Halton Women's Place

Thanks to another successful volleyball event, the Karen Shank Foundation will be a Safe Shelter Sponsor for the Halton Women's Place two years in a row. Total donations to Halton Women's Place in the past two years was $13,700, raised through a beach volleyball tournament and a women's self defense course in 2006, and an indoor volleyball event in 2007. These donations maintain a bedroom in the women's shelter that sees 25 women and children in the course of the year.

Eden Food Bank

Eden Food Bank is a non-denominational, charitable organization, working to eliminate hunger through food distribution to qualified individuals and families living in selected areas of Mississauga. Thanks to the Karen Shank Foundation 2007 beach volleyball tournament, $9,000 and over 660 lbs of food were donated to Eden Food Bank. The funds were used towards purchasing an industrial-sized refrigerator and to setting up a birthday bag program for children whose families use the food bank.

Canadian Red Cross

The Karen Shank Foundation has supported the Canadian Red Cross by raising $12,400 through indoor volleyball tournaments in 2005 and 2006. Funds were used to help support the disaster relief fund.
